THE TRANSITLIFE PROGRAM
The TransitLife Program is an innovative career initiative that properly prepares students to build, understand, and chase the aspirations they wish to manifest. We foster the true talents of our student-leaders by constructing a plan of action that students follow using time management, goal-setting, and leadership. After accomplishing their first year of goals, students are paired with a professional business or artisan to work on an apprenticeship placement in the field of their desire. We recreate "the system" by focusing on the development of interpersonal and professionally-related social skills as a means to cultivate an outgoing, mindful, and personable candidate in preparations to enter "the real world."

HOW IT WORKS
The following segments of each meeting can be recreated, redesigned, and tailored specifically for the students involved within your groups.
Talent & Career Exploration
Objective: To ensure the development of each and every student's lifelong aspirations.
How: We discover each student's field of interest through a process of trial and error! We empower students to try new hobbies, job shadowing, and career research in industries across the spectrum.
Resumé Building & Business Etiquette
Objective: To improve knowledge of ethical and professional practices.
How: We help our students design and maintain their own professional and individualized resume by investigating which career path they wish to pursue, understanding their skills and accomplishments, and writing a concise cover letter that highlights their objectives.
Apprenticeship Placement
Objective: To establish an experience-based background in the industry of their choice.
How: TransitLife Counselors are provided with a list of locally approved businesses and artisans to help link students to internships and apprenticeships that work to build their "real world," on-the-job knowledge and skills.
Leadership & Team Work
Objective: To enlighten students on the importance and positive benefits that come from working as a collective, utilizing every person's talents and ideas, to co-create projects in which each team member feels equally involved in the outcome.
How: We challenge students in brainstorming community projects that can help benefit the local population in every way from art and performances to volunteering at the city mission or taking environmental action.
Goal-Setting & Time Management
Objective: To teach methods of taking ideas and bringing them into fruition, as to promote a generation that never gives up.
How: After establishing a clear vision of what each student wishes to pursue, we work together in researching relatable and realistic goals, developing a plan of action, and sticking to a weekly schedule that can help them to chase their dreams.
Public Speaking, Improv, and Character Building
Objective: To discover each person's full personality, and to improve their social-building skills through performance-based exercises.
How: We explore the power of our voices through writing speeches, mission statements, and creative fiction. We also play theatre games, mock-interview-prep situations, and discover how we can incorporate our individual character into everything we do.
Global Service & Sustainable Practices
Objective: To educate students on humanitarianism and environmentalism, in order to ensure a promising future around the world.
How: We enlighten students on social, humanitarian, and environmental issues, in order to raise awareness of every person's effect on the planet. Our mission is to challenge each student in applying their aspirations towards changing the world around them.
